Performed on Chickering Piano

The Chickering piano was manufactured by the Boston company, Chickering and Sons, which was a prosperous piano manufacturer during the 19th century in the States until Steinway subsequently overtook. Chickering piano is known to have a warm and rich sound. There are modern pianos with warmth and richness to their sound, but what Chickering produces is different from them: woody, comforting, and nostalgic.
Many pianists and composers adored Chickering piano during the 19th century, but notably, a Hungarian composer, Franz Liszt, appreciated the piano. Chickering gave two pianos to the composer. The first one was brought to Rome from the States, then another one, only made for Liszt, to his music school in Budapest. His two Chickering pianos are now exhibited in Liszt's Memorial Museum in Budapest.
